Legal awareness seminar held at Jamshedpur Co-operative College

Jamshedpur, August 22: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Jamshedpur hosted a comprehensive legal awareness program and one-day seminar at Co-operative College on Thursday. The event was graced by DLSA Secretary Rajendra Prasad as the chief guest, alongside other distinguished guests including Legal Council Chief Videsh Sinha, and Assistant Legal Aid Defense Advocates Ankur Kunwar, Abhinav Kumar Srivastava, and Manoj Kumar Singh.

The seminar, organized in collaboration with RUSA and IQAC, aimed to educate attendees on India’s newly enacted criminal laws. The program, conducted by Dr. Swati Soren, provided an in-depth discussion on the three new criminal laws that have replaced the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), and Indian Evidence Act. These new laws include the Indian Justice Code, Indian Civil Defense Code, and the Indian Evidence Act, which came into effect on July 1, 2024.

The seminar was attended by College Principal Arun Singh, along with students, teachers, and staff, who engaged actively in the session. The objective was to familiarize the participants with the significant changes in criminal law and their implications, marking a pivotal shift in India’s legal landscape.
