Legal Awareness Programme for Jamshedpur police officers

Jamshedpur: Under the aegis of the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (Ranchi) and District Legal Services Authority (East Singhbhum), a capacity-building and legal awareness program was conducted on Sunday in the Lok Adalat Hall, located within the premises of the Civil Court campus. The program focused on legal provisions related to the POCSO Act, motor vehicle accidents, and crimes against women, targeting police station heads from across the district.

The event emphasized the rehabilitation of victims, evidence collection, and a detailed understanding of the legal provisions under POCSO, NDPS, MACT, and crimes against women. The program aimed to enhance the investigative skills and legal awareness of police officers.

The event was inaugurated with a ceremonial lamp-lighting. Distinguished guests included Principal District and Sessions Judge Anil Kumar Mishra, District Sessions Judge-3 Nishant Kumar, DLSA Secretary Rajendra Prasad, senior mediators K.K. Sinha and Satyendra Kumar Singh, and Legal Defense Counsel members Videsh Sinha and Rajesh Srivastava.

During the program, the speakers provided in-depth insights into the relevant laws, highlighting their application in law enforcement and victim assistance. The initiative was lauded as a significant step toward equipping police officers with the necessary legal knowledge to handle sensitive cases effectively and ensure justice.
