Jamshedpur: A damaged, leaning internet tower has gripped residents of Karandih with panic and concern. Friday evening’s intense thunderstorm and heavy rain destabilised the structure, leaving it precariously leaning toward the busy Karandih main road and posing a serious threat to public safety.
The tower, located inside the Karandih Electricity Department campus, tilted dangerously following the storm that swept through the city around 5 PM on Friday. The presence of high-voltage power lines directly beneath the leaning structure has raised greater alarm, increasing the risk of a major accident if the tower collapses.
Inaction Leaves Residents Vulnerable
Local residents fear that a collapse onto the live electric wires or the adjoining road could trigger a catastrophic situation, potentially causing extensive damage to property and endangering lives.
Despite the serious hazard, no concerned department or official took visible action even after nearly 24 hours. As of 4 PM on Saturday, the damaged tower remained unattended, leaving commuters and nearby residents exposed to continued danger.
Residents have urged the district administration, the electricity department, and the concerned telecom service provider to immediately inspect the site. They are demanding emergency measures to secure or dismantle the unstable structure before tragedy strikes.
