Jamshedpur, Feb 28: The entire Surya Mandir complex wore a resplendent look with the illumination of 1,100 lamps emanating a hallowed glow as part of the first anniversary celebrations of the Ram temple installation. Readings from the Ramayana commenced on Saturday at 11:45 in the morning and concluded at 5 pm. The prayer rituals were performed by priests who were specially brought down to the city from South India. The concluding day of the two day event on Sunday was marked by the decoration of oil lamps and recitations from the Shri Hanuman Chalisa.

Chief patron Raghubar Das lighted the first lamp followed by others. Women devotees made colourful designs over which they placed the lamps that gave the impression of paradise brought to earth in salutation of Lord Ram. Occasional gusts of strong breeze could not blow out the lamps and it seemed that the flames had divine strength to withstand the power of the wind. Recitation of the Shri Hanuman Chalisa added to the holy atmosphere prevailing in the entire Surya Mandir complex.
