Jamshedpur: Members of Kurmi Samaj staged a sit-in before the Jamshedpur Collectorate on Monday in support of their various demands. They were jointly led by president Shailendra Mahato and Fani Bhushan Mahato of Kurmi Andolankari Manch. They handed a 10-point memorandum addressed to Governor Draupadi Murmu to Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar. They said their main demands pertain to inclusion of Kurmis in SC category, withdrawal of the amended land acquisition law and naming of Kolhan as Kurmi Paragana. They said they would be launching a statewide stir in case their demands are not fulfilled soon. They also said that MPs and MLAs will not be allowed to enter any village by the Kurmis.
Among those present on the occasion included Ram Prasad Mahato, Manik Chandra Mahato, Shailendra Mahato Chhote, Sanjay Mahato, Somnath Mahato, Nepal Mahato, Prabhas Mahato, Sunil Mahato and Manoj Mahato.
