Kunal Sharangi visits Indian Embassy in Chicago, meets Consul General Somnath Ghosh

Jamshedpur, Jan 31: BJP State Spokesperson, Kunal Sharangi met Consul General Somnath Ghosh at the Indian Embassy in Chicago. During the meeting, Sharangi urged Ghosh to support the global marketing of Jharkhand’s products, particularly those with the ‘G1 tag’ especially Sohrai paintings.

Kunal highlighted the potential of various Jharkhand products, including Sohrai paintings, silk, and handloom industry items, which could find a significant market in Western countries if marketed effectively. He suggested creating a dedicated corner for Jharkhand products in the consulate, with information material like brochures and coffee table books, to make visitors aware about Jharkhand’s cultural significance and traditional products.

Expressing concern over the challenges faced by Jharkhand students studying in universities in the US, Sharangi informed Ghosh about the need for better support systems. He also suggested sending proposals through the Chicago Consulate to the central government for the welfare of Jharkhand students.

Kunal Sharangi, along with Subbu Ayyar, the founder-president of the American Premier Cricket League, discussed the potential for cricket development in the United States. Sharangi mentioned the recent approval of a bill in the Illinois State Senate to give credit to students for playing cricket in schools, and that he saw possibilities for employment and international recognition for Jharkhand’s cricket players and coaches in the upcoming T20 World Cup in the USA.

He informed Ghosh about the plans to send a proposal to the Consulate General on behalf of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association to promote cricket in American schools. The meeting also included discussions on addressing the challenges faced by Indian students in the Chicago and exploring employment opportunities for Jharkhand’s cricket players and coaches in the USA.

The meeting concluded with Consul General Somnath Ghosh and Kunal Sharangi expressing optimism about the potential collaborations and support for showcasing Jharkhand’s rich cultural and economic contributions on the global stage.
