Jamshedpur, Jan 30: The Income Tax Department, Jamshedpur, is conducting a cleanliness drive as part of the Cleanliness Fortnight organized by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), that will continue till January 31. On January 16, all officers and employees took an online cleanliness pledge. As a representative of local dignitaries, former Olympian Harbhajan Singh was invited to participate in the Republic Day program.
Harbhajan Singh emphasized the importance of cleanliness in his message and highlighted it as the foundation of the department’s progress. As part of the program, a tree plantation drive was organized on January 29 at various offices of the Income Tax Department in Jamshedpur, with fruit-bearing saplings being planted. Additionally, a cleanliness program was conducted in the Dobho Dam area, focusing on extensive cleaning efforts.

Under this campaign, the disposal of unused paper and electronic devices was carried out through bidding, resulting in the freeing of 800 square feet of office space and generating revenue of Rs 70,000. Daily cleanliness campaigns are also being conducted in all Income Tax department offices, along with the cleaning of surrounding areas. The cleanliness drive was led by Shishir Dhamija, the Chief Income Tax Commissioner in Jamshedpur, and N Hemlatha, the Additional Income Tax Commissioner. Officers, including headquarters officer Bijay Kumar, and all employees actively participated in the initiative.
During the event, Shishir Dhamija emphasized cleanliness in his message and reiterated the commitment to cultivate a culture of cleanliness in homes and offices. He urged everyone to ensure that offices remained clean and to provide excellent facilities to all taxpayers.
