Jamshedpur, July 10 : The Kolhan University has decided to host its convocation in August this year. With the Union Home Ministry failing to provide any date, the officials of the Kolhan University have decided to finally hold it in August at its headquarters in Chaibasa.
“We had contacted the Home Ministry to invite Rajnath Singh since February 2015 but despite assurances we failed to get a particular date. We have visited Delhi several number of times but somehow it did not materialize,” said an official of the university.
RPP Singh, vice-chancellor, Kolhan University said, “Keeping in mind the students who are waiting to receive their certificates and medals, we have unanimously decided to organize it in August. If we do not get any union minister, we will prefer doing it at the state level.”
Students of 2013 and 2014 batch along 2015 batch will participate in the convocation. Last week, the Kolhan University even declared the results of final year meaning another batch 2013-2016 have also passed out their graduation.
Around 14,000 students, who have successfully completed graduation, post-graduation (PG) and BEd programs and vocational courses in 2013 and 2014, will receive their degree certificates at the convocation. As many as 66 students will be given gold medals.
However, with the new batch being added the number of students is expected to rise. Rs 25 lakh has been earmarked for the function.
KU merit list ready
Kolhan University has sorted out the merit list of the students of BA, BCom, and BSc and the merit list is available on the university website.
Admission would start from Monday. The hard copies of the merit are being dispatched to all the principals of constituent colleges and private affiliated colleges under the Kolhan University.
