Jamshedpur: Kolhan University administration has sought a report from the authorities of Abdul Bari Memorial College, Golmuri, on a recent clash between members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Jharkhand Chhatra Morcha (JCM).
Sources said that representatives of both student organizations had lodged FIR against each other after the incident. Meanwhile, the ABVP leaders have alleged that the JCM members had kept arms in their office. The alleged presence of arms in the students union office has led the university officials to adopt a tough stance on the issue.
Dr Shukla Mohanty, Vice-Chancellor of Kolhan University, said, The university and college campuses are sacred places for academic activities. There is no place for violence and arms in such places. We will not tolerate such forbidden activities. Stringent action will be taken against the guilty once the inquiry report is submitted.
Sources said it is not the first time when reports of arms being found on college premises have come to light. Arms have been earlier found in Jamshedpur Cooperative College, Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial College and Baharagora College.
The convenor of ABVPs university unit, Sonu Thakur, alleged that JCM leaders were trying to create a tense and violent environment in the college. He said the ABVP had set up a helpdesk to help students fill in forms easily, but the JCM leaders opposed this.
The JCM leaders refuted the charges saying the ABVP leaders were leveling false charges on them.
