KPS Mango honours auto, van drivers by organizing Sarathi Diwas

Jamshedpur, Dec 12: KPS Mango organised and celebrated ‘Sarathi Diwas’ on Monday, December, 12 to honour autorickshaw and van drivers who brought and took home the school students safely.

The programme commenced with a prayer song by the KPS Mango students. Principal, Rupa Ghosh, in her welcome address, observed, “You continue to carry our trust forward by caring for our students like guardians. You carry our students safely and with total care for them. You are our Sarathis (Charioteers) who confidently and carefully steer the chariots in the right direction. Your hard work and supportive frame of mind are highly acknowledged and respected by us. We are grateful to you, our Sarathi bhaiyas for sharing our responsibilities.”

 KPS Schools’ Director, Sharat Chandran, felicitated the autorickshaw and van drivers while noting, “We appreciate your dedication and it is through your care and services that you play an integral role in the smooth functioning of our school.”

Sharat Chandran further said, “Auto and van drivers fill the gap between the parents. Mothers hand over their children to the auto and van drivers in the morning with the assurance that their wards would be taken to school and brought back safely. We have no appropriate words to appreciate and acknowledge their support.”

KPS Schools’ Director, Sharat Chandran distributed T Shirts among the auto and van drivers present as tokens of gratitude towards their services to the school and students’ families.

Speaking to the students, Sharat Chandran advised, “If you want to achieve success in life, you should respect and thank every member of the society and seek their love and blessings.”

Parent representative, Mukhtar Alam who was touched by the felicitation meted out to the van and autorickshaw drivers, thanked the school management, Principal and teachers of the KPS Mango for organizing this programme to express their respect to the Sarathis. Recalling his son’s 10 years in KPS Mango, Mukhtar Alam said, “My son received 100 percent attendance award five times because his auto driver brought him safely and timely to school. Sarathi Diwas should be organized by more educational institutions and social organizations to recognize the contribution of Sarathis.”

Md Sharique Ansari, an auto driver who has been ferrying KPS Mango students over a long period of time thanked the school authorities for acknowledging the contributions of auto and van drivers and honouring them for the services being rendered. VP Usha Rajshekharan and Headmistress Abha Vishwakarma were also present on the occasion.

Van and auto drivers took the oath of safety administered by SAFE Club’s Captain Asfia. Vote of thanks was proposed by the Vice Captain, Farhan Khan.

The Sarathi Diwas was further highlighted by presentations of Nukkad Natak and safety songs and dances by the students. The entire programme was planned, coordinated and executed by SAFE Club Moderators Dolly Chatterjee and Sushmita Sikdar and student members.
