Gamharia, August 17: A three-day inter-state under-19 (boys and girls) basketball tournament was organized at XITE College, Gamharia. A total of 23 teams that included five of girls from various states including Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha and West Bengal participated in the tournament.
KPS Kadma emerged as the champion, while the team from Jamshedpur secured the runner-up position. Similarly, in the girls’ category, the team from KPS Kadma bagged the champions’ slot, with JP1 as the first runner-up and East Singhbhum team the second runner-up.
All the winning and runner-up teams were honored with trophies and cash awards. Jaya Kant Jha, HR Head of Amalgam Steel Limited and the Public Relations Officer of Tata Steel Long Products, presented awards to boys’ and girls’ winning teams. Prof Shalukant of XITE College, expressed gratitude to Tata Steel Long Products, MS Enterprises Adityapur, Amalgam Steel Limited Kandra, Pride Uniforms Bistupur, Bhalotia Motors, and P U Services for their contributions towards the successful organization of the tournament.
The active support and cooperation towards the basketball tourney extended by XITE College Principal Fr Dr Francis EA, SJ, Vice Principal Fr Dr Mukti Clarence, Professor Shailesh Dubey, Professor Akincan Jexa, Dr Pramod Kumar Singh, Professor Sushmita Chaudhary Sen, Professor Shalu Kant, Naval Narayan Choudhary, Professor Nishith Singh, Dr Partha, Priya Das, Dr Radha Mahali, Dr Rajesh Rana and Dr Swati Singh came in for allround ovation.
