Jamshedpur: After rains in the upper region, the water level of Chandil Dam has started increasing. Seeing the rising water level, the project administration has opened the second radial gate of the dam.
On Thursday morning, the radial gate number six of Chandil Dam was opened by 20 cm. Presently the water level of Chandil Dam has been recorded at 181.20 metres. The water level of Chandil Dam is being reduced so that the water level does not increase suddenly during the rainy season.
Earlier on Sunday, gate number 11 was opened up to 30 cm after the water level of the dam was recorded at 180.65 metres. At present two radial gates of Chandil Dam are open.
It was informed that as a safety precaution, a radial gate has been opened so that water does not enter any village in the submergence area due to sudden rise in the water level amid rains. Every year the displaced villages of the submergence area get submerged after the water level of Chandil Dam rises during the rainy season.
