Kolkata’s Richa Roy giving platform to upcoming models

Kolkata, March 6: A known face in the fashion industry of Kolkata, model Richa Roy recently organized a fashion show for new talents who require a platform. The function which was hosted at Maniktala Rajbari in the heart of City of Joy was a thundering success in which 12 models took part.

Richa, who hails from Barasat said, “As many 11 female models and one male model took part in the event which was sponsored by Bag Bakri Chai, a known brand in tea industry. The models walked on the ramp of the ethnic and traditional location of the palace, in which many movies were shot earlier by famous directors of Tollywood. Seven photographers and around a dozen make-up artists showed their talent in the event.”

“I have been grooming girls since 2024 on how to develop their personality and looks, earlier in the aviation sector and presently in the fashion world, ” said Richa.

In the event, the first prize went to Swapna Mondal, second went to Chaiti Dasgupta, third to Debopriya Dey and fourth to Sayani Mitra. All the models wore traditional Indian dresses, which was greatly applauded by the audience.

Before this Rajbari event, Richa had organized a fashion show at Taki, which had a theme of Durga puja. As many as seven models took part in the event. After the major success of the Taki event, Richa organized the Rajbari show.

Richa, who before joining the fashion industry, was an air hostess and ground staff trainer, said, “I wanted to be a model and actor from my childhood.”

She said, “I have done a number of big assignments in the past and strive to do more in the coming days.”

Richa said, “I have got good offers for mega Bengali TV serials and movies. These consist of lead roles. I am confident that I will excel in the acting arena too.”

Richa has been offered good photoshoots by international photographers for various magazines, which is planning to take up recently.

Richa will soon be seen in a music album in which famous playback singer from Mumbai Amit Kumar would be singing. Amit is son of Kishore Kumar.
