‘Ashtabhujayani’ Theme
Jamshedpur: DBMS College of Education celebrated International Women’s Day with the theme “Ashtabhujayani.” The event honoured distinguished women from the fields of arts, literature, education, medicine, and sports, recognizing their multifaceted contributions to society.

Chief Guest Purbi Ghosh, alongside other dignitaries, inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

The Power of the Multifaceted Woman
Throughout the event, speakers drew a powerful parallel between the eight arms of the Goddess—symbolizing power, compassion, knowledge, and protection—and the modern empowered woman. The discourse highlighted that today’s women successfully navigate numerous dimensions of life with equal proficiency. Far from being confined to a single role, women are steering society in new directions as engineers, doctors, corporate leaders, elite athletes, social workers, politicians, musicians, and literary scholars.

The college presented awards to several luminaries who have reached the pinnacle of their professions while upholding spiritual and educational values. The honourees included:

- Medicine: Dr. Asha Gupta
- Spirituality: Spiritual Guru Anju Behen

- Politics: District Councilor Kavita Parmar
- Arts: Meera Dutta
- Sports: Golf Champion Alka Garg
- Entrepreneurship: Pushpa Tirkey
- Technical Services: Loco Pilot Puja Kumari
- Environment: Eco-Warrior Garima Rohilla
- Youth Leadership: Youth Icon Tanushree Dutta
- Community: Rita Agarwal (famously known as “Chocolate Nani”)
The college also paid special tribute to Bhanumathi Neelakantan, Patron of the DBMS Trust, and Co-Chairperson Lalitha Chandrashekhar, for their invaluable contributions to education through the establishment of the South Indian Mahila Samaj.

A Message of Empowerment
Speakers emphasized that the modern woman possesses multidimensional talent and commands a strong presence in every sector. By honouring these inspirational figures, DBMS College of Education sent a positive message to society regarding the vital role of women in nation-building.
The programme, led by Dr. Surina Bhullar Singh, featured seamless hosting by students Anjali and Jasneet. The event also saw the DBMS College Alumni Association honouring support staff members Sujata Chand, Julie Deep, Sunita, Bandana, Malti, and Priya for their dedicated service.
Dignitaries in attendance included DBMS Trust Chairman Dr. B. Chandrashekhar, Co-Chairperson Lalitha Chandrashekhar, Secretary Sripriya Dharmarajan, Administrative Secretary Satish Singh, Joint Secretary Sudha Dilip, Principal Dr. Joohi Samarpita, and Vice-Principal Dr. Monica Uppal. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Artika Jyoti.
