Jamshedpur, May 20: Members of Kolhan University students union performed the symbolic last rites of Vice Chancellor Dr Gangadhar Panda at Modi Park, Bistupur, to protest against his alleged ‘anti-student’ attitude.

Hemant Pathak, a student leader, said, “The VC had recently asked students not to call him, saying he was dead for them. This is why we burnt his effigy and offered him last tribute. We also arranged for Brahman Bhoj and prayer meeting for him who has literally failed to exist for the students.”

Pathak demanded a probe against the VC in connection with the alleged charges of corruption against him. He said a delegation of students would soon meet the Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais to demand action against the VC.

AJSU state secretary Deepak Pandey lambasted the VC for his statement and sought action against him by the higher state authorities.
