Jamshedpur : Kolhan University that got its own office is now gearing up to add more facilities. Chancellor of Jharkhand universities and governor of the state Syed Ahmed inaugurated the administration building and the new examination building�at Chaibasa.
The administration building has been built by the state human resources development department grant worth Rs 2.85 crore while the examination building has been built by the university’s internal resources that has cost Rs 1.84 crore. The two-storeyed administrative building has about 25 rooms and a senate hall for conferences.�
The three-storeyed examination building on the contrary has about 30 rooms and two multipurpose halls meant for examinations and national conferences.
” We are working to improve infrastructure.We needed a separate infrastructure for long. Finally we can move in our own campus now. The best part is that we can now organise university and state level seminars at the university,” said R.P.P. Singh, vice-chancellor, Kolhan University. Plans are there to add more facilities here.
Kolhan University is working on plans of installing CCTVs in colleges with a centralised monitoring system from the Kolhan University office in Chaibasa to ensure regular classes in constituent and affiliated colleges. The idea is to ensure smooth functioning of the colleges and keen a tab on the attendance of students and teachers.
The vice-chancellor of newly formed Kolhan University, RPP Singh, has expressed an urgent need for restructuring of colleges under the varsity to improve standards of education in the region.
Singh shared that he has a plan of installing CCTVs in all college classrooms while the monitors will be in Chaibasa making it easier for the VC to keep an eye on classes. However, due to a high budget, it might take time to implement the project.
It may be noted that the university has been carved out of Ranchi University with 15 colleges under its jurisdiction.
