Jamshedpur: Shri Krishnamurthy ‘Ganapatigal’, popularly known as Babu Shastrigal, the renowned Tamil priest of Jamshedpur, passed away this morning at his son’s residence at Ulyan, Kadma.
Babu Shastrigal, aged 87, was ailing for some time with diabetes. However, he was active till his last breath as this morning he performed his daily puja and the end came immediately after that.
Shri Babu Shastrigal was a Vedic Pundit who read the Holy Scriptures and used to spread knowledge to all who visited him seeking advice on holy matters.
While the Tamil community has lost a highly learned priest who was not only humble but also preached the life’s important chores and the requisite rituals to be performed in a perfect way.
The city will miss a Vedic Pundit who made a daily routine of conducting havan for the prosperity of Jamshedpur and its citizens. Babu Shastrigal leaves behind 4 sons, 4 daughters-in-law and grandchildren.
He was associated with Lord Dharma Saastha temple, Ram Mandir, Bistupur and Jamshedpur Ved Parayana Committee wherein he actively participated in various programmes.
His last rites will be performed at Parvati Ghat on Friday February 6.
