Chaibasa: In a landmark move for Jharkhand’s academic sector, Kolhan University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anjila Gupta has officially released the promotion notification for 72 teachers. The decision, finalized during a recent Syndicate meeting, clears a massive backlog dating back nearly two decades.
Ending the Promotion Stagnation
The Registrar issued the notification shifting teachers from Assistant Professor (Stage 1) to Stage 2, and from Reader to Associate Professor.
-
Stage 2 Promotions: 61 teachers appointed in 2008 had been working at this level for 14 years. While they received the corresponding pay scale, the lack of a formal notification had blocked their path to Stage 3. That hurdle is now removed.
-
Associate Professor Promotions: 11 senior faculty members who served as Readers for 17 years have finally been designated as Associate Professors. This allows them to immediately apply for Full Professorship.
Notable Promotions
The list of newly designated Associate Professors includes:
Dr. RK Chaudhary, Dr. Rajendra Bharti, Dr. Mudita Chandra, Dr. SP Mahalik, Dr. Neeta Sinha, Dr. BN Prasad, Dr. Laxman Prasad, Dr. Keya Majumdar, Dr. Rekha Jha, Dr. Kishwar Ara, and Dr. Sudhir Kumar Sahu.
Impact on University Administration
Teachers’ Association (TAKUU) President Prof. Indal Paswan and Secretary Dr. Ashok Kumar Rawani welcomed the move. They noted that these 2008-batch teachers are now eligible to hold key administrative positions such as:
-
Registrar
-
Controller of Examinations
-
Finance Officer
Future Outlook: JPSC is currently processing promotion files for approximately 60 more teachers from the 2008 batch, with a second notification expected soon.
