Jamshedpur, July 9: Kolhan Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police on Thursday reviewed the progress of the investigation into the sensational murder of Himanshu Singh near DD Bar in Bistupur and directed officials to expedite the probe and ensure the early arrest of all absconding accused.
The review meeting was attended by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Superintendent of Police (City), Superintendent of Police (Rural), and members of the Special Investigation Team (SIT). The DIG assessed the progress made in the investigation, collection of technical and physical evidence, and efforts to apprehend the remaining fugitives.
The incident occurred on June 27, when Himanshu Singh was brutally attacked with a sharp-edged weapon near DD Bar in Bistupur. He later succumbed to his injuries during treatment, prompting the formation of an SIT to investigate the case.
During the meeting, the DIG instructed the investigation team to conduct a fair, impartial, and time-bound probe while strengthening the case through scientific and technical evidence. He stressed that no negligence would be tolerated at any stage of the investigation and directed officers to ensure that all available evidence is meticulously documented.
The DIG also emphasised the need for the immediate arrest of the remaining accused and instructed the police to intensify raids to trace and apprehend them. Police officials informed the meeting that continuous search operations are underway to arrest the absconding suspects and bring the investigation to its logical conclusion.
