Chaibasa, July 13: Acting Kolhan Commissioner Dr Pradeep Kumar has directed the closure of all stone crushers, brick kilns and mining activities in the Dalma eco-sensitive zone. The directive was issued at a meeting of the monitoring committee meeting on Wednesday.
Several senior officials including the deputy commissioners and superintendents of police from East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts in addition to the DMO, DFOs and other were present at the meeting.
The acting commissioner issued show-cause notices to the additional district magistrate, Jamshedpur, and Chaibasa Industry Centre managing director for abstaining from the meeting without any prior information.
Dr Kumar stressed on the need for a master plan for the Dalma eco-sensitive zone. He directed the DMO to coordinate with the Department of Environment, Government of India, in preparing the master plan.
It is worth mentioning here that some time back, the authorities had formed a task force to close the mining activities, crusher machines and brick kilns in the Dalma eco-sensitive zone.
The additional district magistrate, Jamshedpur, was appointed the president of the task force. As he was not present in today’s meeting, no discussion could be held on the issue.
Meanwhile, the commissioner has directed all the concerned officials to submit their reports on the issue within a week.
