Jamshedpur, July 13: Madrasi Sammelani on Wednesday organized a Book Grant function at its premises Bistupur with a view to aid students from the weaker sections of the society. �A total of Rs 351,200 was distributed amongst the students, in addition to providing medical grant to few needy students.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Sunil Bhaskaran, vice-president (Corporate Services), Tata Steel, lauded the efforts of Madrasi Sammelani for such philanthropic activities. He also stated that the cty can only boast of such work by many social welfare institutions that have been established over generations. Later, he distributed the grants to the children and three patients.
This innovative and appreciative work of Madrasi Sammelani was thought of and created the Education and Medical Aid during its platinum jubilee celebrations in 1992-23. This year it is holding the 19th such function wherein financial aid was extended to 319 students from 24 schools of the city.
Four educational institutions were also provided with a financial packages totaling to Rs. 50,000. Besides, three persons were given medical help to the tune of Rs. 25,000.
Madrasi Sammelani thanked Tata Steel, TCIL Tata Pigments and associations such Dharma Saastha Samooham as well as few members of the community, including K N Venkat and B V Rajan, who have generously contributed regularly for this noble cause.
B S Chandrasekhar, president, Board of Trustees, N Ramamurthy, vice-president, Board of Trustees, V Natarajan, secretary, Board of Trustees, K S Narayan, president, M S V Siva, honorary secretary, S Sriram, honorary joint secretaries, J Suresh and S Ramesh, committee members of the Madrasi Sammelani were present on the occasion and played a role to make the program successful.
