Khel Gaon is heritage of Jharkhand, security must: Raghubar Das

Ranchi: Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that concerted efforts should be made for maintenance and upkeep of international stadium in Ranchi.

He passed orders for put in place adequate security mechanism in and around Khel Gaon complex. “Khel Gaon is a heritage of Jharkhand and its security should be the first priority,” Das said.

He also instructed the concerned officials to prohibit all other activities other than sports at mega Khel Gaon complex. Chief Minister was addressing the executive committee meeting of Jharkhand Sports Authority at Project Bhavan here today.

While informed about the fact that few apartments in Khel Gaon complex have been allotted to the police personnel, the chief minister asked the concerned department to shift occupants to other places.

He also directed the sports department to get the original copies of designs of electricity, water supply and other facilities at the sports complex from the concerned companies so that they could be used in future developmental work.

The CM said the government has plans for medal winners and sportspersons who have excelled in national and international level competitions.

The CM on the occasion also issued directives that the 34 shops which had been constructed at Birsa Munda Football Stadium be allotted to local sportspersons on a priority basis.

He asked the department to publish advertisement for the purpose. When informed about the fact that Maithon Power Limited has been given the task of maintenance of Sports Hostel at Maithon, the CM asserted that CCL, BCCL and DVC should also asked to take care of other sports complexes in Jharkhand.

In the meeting Sukhdev Singh, principal secretary, Building Construction Department suggested that a committee of the officials should be constituted for smaller maintenance work in Khel Gaon to which the CM granted his permission.

Senior officials including chief secretary Rajiv Gauba, principal secretary (Finance), Rajbala Verma, principal secretary, Building Construction, chief secretary of CM Sanjay Kumar, Bandana Dadel of department of Sports and Youth Affairs were present in the meeting.
