Kharagpur, Aug 6: The Kharagpur Division intensified its ongoing crackdown on the sale and distribution of unapproved Packaged Drinking Water (PDW) across railway premises, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring the availability of safe and certified drinking water for passengers.
As part of this sustained drive, unauthorized cartons of PDW were seized today from a catering stall at Andul station by the Commercial Inspector during a routine inspection.
Similar enforcement actions were carried out earlier this week that included 80 cartons of unapproved PDW seized from the concourse area of the new station building at Santragachi and 50 cartons recovered from Platform No. 1 at Shalimar station.
At Kharagpur station, 62 cartons were seized from onboard trains during frequent checks—17 cartons from Train No. 22306 and 45 cartons from Train No. 22841.
These efforts underscored the Division’s strict adherence to commercial and catering guidelines and its focus on safeguarding passenger health and well-being. Vendors across the division were being regularly sensitized to sell only approved PDW brands, and stern action was being taken against violators under existing norms.
The Kharagpur Division assured that rigorous monitoring and surprise inspections would continue to ensure full compliance and eliminate unsafe practices from railway premises.
