Karim City College Jamshedpur: Theater Festival ‘Curtain Raiser’ concludes

Jamshedpur: The two-day theatrical extravaganza, ‘Curtain Raiser,’ organized by the Society for Promotion of Art Spark, reached its grand finale today at the Sakchi premises of Karim City College. The festival, inaugurated on November 8, witnessed a vibrant showcase of talent and creativity, leaving the audience captivated.

Distinguished guests, including Dr. B.K. Behera, Principal of Baharagora College, Dr. Mohammad Riaz, Principal of Karim City College, and Dr. S.M. Yahia Ibrahim, Convenor of SPARK, graced the opening ceremony along with renowned playwright Shivlal Sagar of Jamshedpur.

The highlight of the festival was the performance of the play ‘Ukhde Log,’ featuring the talented cast from Karim City College—Aniket Karan, Sneha Gorai, Iman Shaikh, Rinki Jaiswal, Akash Das, and Rakesh Charan Gunduwa. Authored by Anil Thakkar and directed by Shivlal Sagar, the play delved into the intricacies of family life, shedding light on the diminishing culture of interpersonal connections in today’s society.

The closing ceremony, held today, was graced by Sanjay Mishra, Editor of Prabhat Khabar Jamshedpur, as the chief guest, and BN Tripathi as the special guest. The event featured encore performances of ‘Sandhya Chhaya’ by Jaywant Dalvi and ‘Digdarshak’ by Priyam Jani, both directed by Shivlal Sagar. Sana Vakil and Sneha Sharma expertly conducted the stage, with Rishabh Raj delivering the vote of thanks.

‘Spark’s Annual Theater Festival has once again succeeded in bringing together a diverse array of theatrical expressions, showcasing the immense talent and creativity present in our community. The Society for Promotion of Art Spark expresses gratitude to all members and contributors who played a vital role in the success of this year’s ‘Curtain Raiser,” remarked Dr. S.M. Yahia Ibrahim, Convenor of SPARK, during the closing ceremony.

The festival served as a platform not only for entertainment but also for meaningful reflections on contemporary issues, leaving a lasting impact on the cultural landscape of Jamshedpur.
