Ranchi: The issue of check posts for commercial vehicles on the inter-state border was raised in the Jharkhand Assembly on Thursday. Gandey MLA Kalpana Murmu Soren brought up the matter through an attention motion, stating that the check posts had been non-operational for the past 7-8 years, leading to revenue losses for the state.

Soren emphasized the urgency of the issue, saying, “The absence of check posts is causing financial losses to the state. It is necessary to restart them as soon as possible to ensure proper regulation and revenue collection.”

Responding to her concerns, Minister Deepak Birua assured the House that the department would soon reinstate the system. He informed the assembly, “This provision has been closed since 2017. We are working on it and it will be restarted within the next three months.”

Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Radha Krishna Kishore also acknowledged the significance of the issue. He said, “MLA Kalpana Murmu’s attention is related to the interest of the state. It is also linked to revenue. Therefore, the government is committed to addressing this matter at the earliest.”
