New Delhi, March 23: Kalpana Soren, MLA from Gandey, was conferred the prestigious Women Empowerment Trailblazers Award at the ‘BRICS CCI WE Annual Women Summit and Felicitation 2026’, held at Hyatt Regency New Delhi.
The award was presented by the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry under its Women Empowerment Vertical, in recognition of her significant contributions to advancing women’s empowerment.
Addressing the gathering, Soren said the honour was not merely a personal achievement but a tribute to every woman of Jharkhand and countless others across the world who are strengthening families, communities, and economies through their resilience and determination.
She highlighted that women today are breaking barriers and excelling across diverse fields such as business, sports, science, innovation, governance, and space.
She emphasized the need to amplify the voices of women from marginalized communities and ensure their access to opportunities. “Empowerment must go beyond inclusion—it must ensure equity so that every woman has an equal chance to grow and lead,” she said.
Referring to initiatives under the leadership of Hemant Soren, she noted that women in Jharkhand are increasingly being recognized not just as beneficiaries, but as entrepreneurs and agents of change.
She lauded the role of self-help groups and local enterprises in fostering economic independence and confidence among women.
Sharing her recent experience from University of Oxford, Soren expressed optimism about the future, citing the determination and aspirations of Jharkhand’s students studying at global institutions as a powerful source of inspiration.
