Ranchi, May 21: Principal Secretary of IPRD, Government of Jharkhand, Sanjay Kumar today said favourable film policy, beautiful locations and landscapes film makers are being attracted towards the state.
He said the recently released Vidya Balan starrer Begum Jaan showed the picturesque locations of the state for the first time on a bigger canvas and now the movie �a death in the gunj� has depicted the beautiful scenic beauty of Mckluesiganj.
Addressing a press conference at the Suchana Bhawan here alongwith the cash and crew of the movie, he said the film would take the locations of the state on an international scale which in turn would also draw tourists to Jharkhand.
On the occasion the screening of the movie was done while on behalf of the government a cheque of Rs 31. 25 lakh was handed over to the cast and crew of the movie.
Director of the movie and noted actress Konkana Sen Sharma said the movie which is based on Mckleusiganj would release in the country on June 2.
She said the film helped her bagged the best director award in the New York Film Festival.
She said that the film is being eagerly waited for its release in India.
Producer of the movie Abhishek Choubey said that his initial education had taken place in Jharkhand so this film is also special for him.
The cast lauded the weather and beautiful landscape of the state.
The movie which is based on a murder which took place in the area stars Vikarm Massey, Kalki Kochlein, Gulshan, Ranbir Shourey and the late Om Puri in vital roles.
Over the last two years the film has participated in various film festivals across the world.
Those who were also present on the occasion included IPRD Director Rajeev Lochan Bakshi and producer of the movie Ashish Bhatnagar.
