Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Vikas Morcha activists staged dharna before CRM Gate on Monday to demand construction of a flyover in the city. They were led by party general secretary Abhay Singh who said the agitation was aimed solely at seeking fulfillment of the flyover demand.
This agitation is not an attempt to oppose expansion of any party. If employment opportunities grow or the company expands, the company will have no problem at all. But we want roads and flyovers in the city for the people who are facing traffic jam problems everyday. Road mishaps are also causing fear in the minds of the people. So the demand for flyover and better roads is justified, the JVM leader said.
Abhay Singh said the number of trucks and other heavy vehicles had gone up in the city in the last several years. Now the situation had worsened due to limited roads and space in the city. This calls for prompt measures to provide relief to the people by building more roads and flyovers in the city, he said.
The JVM leader said the people of the city wanted the district administration to do justice to them. He said the corporate houses should also understand their responsibility. He said party activists and senior leaders will take to the streets after 16th May. He said if needed economic blockade will be called along with Jamshedpur bandh in favour of the demands raised by the party.
