Jamshedpur, August 18: The A Division league produced contrasting results on Monday, with Hansda Star sealing a narrow 2-1 win over UFA at Tinplate Ground, while Sarna.Com and Vikas Samity settled for a goalless stalemate at Armoury Ground.
Hansda Star Secure Crucial Win
Hansda Star rode on a brilliant brace from Sunil Marandi to edge past UFA in a Group B fixture. Marandi opened the scoring in the 22nd minute before UFA’s Natwar Hansda restored parity with a 54th-minute strike. However, the joy was short-lived as Marandi struck again in the 61st minute to put Hansda Star back in front.
Despite a spirited fightback, UFA failed to break through again, and the match ended 2-1 in favour of Hansda Star. UFA’s Doctor Tudu received the only caution of the game in the 45th minute, while no Hansda Star players were booked.
Stalemate at Armoury Ground
Meanwhile, Sarna.Com and Vikas Samity shared points in a cagey 0-0 draw at Armoury Ground. Both teams had opportunities but lacked the finishing touch in front of goal.
The match saw a flurry of yellow cards: Ram Chandra Murmu (52’) and Chhutai Tudu (55’) were cautioned for Sarna.Com, while Paika Ho (39’) and Ramswarup Soren (55’) went into the referee’s book for Vikas Samity.
Defences held strong on both ends, ensuring the scoreboard remained untouched at full-time.
