Jamshedpur, Aug 18: In a major crackdown, the Excise Department of East Singhbhum district raided an illegal liquor factory operating in a secluded forest area of Dukhudih, Birsanagar, on Monday. The raid led to the seizure of spurious liquor worth several lakhs of rupees, along with a large cache of bottling equipment.

According to Inspector Ramdev Paswan, a 15-member team carried out the early morning raid, forcing the factory owner to flee. The unit was found producing counterfeit liquor branded as “McDonald” and “Royal Challenge.” Two drums of spurious alcohol, 2,000 empty bottles, stickers and caps were recovered. The bottles were destroyed on-site while the remaining items were seized.

Officials said the search is on for the absconding operator. “No one involved in illegal liquor trade will be spared. Strict surveillance will continue,” a senior officer stated.
