Jamshedpur, July 25: The JOGGA Inter School Boys and Girls Chess Championship began on Thursday at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, hosted by Jusco School Kadma. The first day of the two-day tournament saw four rounds of matches played.
At the end of these rounds, Rishabh and Gagandeep Singh from KPS Kadma, along with Rudransh from Baldwin School, are jointly leading with a total of four points each. Aditya Sinha and Shubhranshu Malik from Jusco School are in second place with three points each.
Earlier, the tournament was jointly inaugurated by the chief guest JEM Foundation Administrator AF Madan and guest of honour senior manager Jiju Thomas.
Present at the inauguration were Jusco School Kadma Principal Jhumjhumi Nandi, vice principal Anandita Roy, JOGGA Vice President Firoz Khan, District Chess Association Secretary NK Tiwary, Chief Arbiter Jayant Kumar Bhuiyan, deputy chief arbiter Chandan Kumar Prasad, Chess coach Anup Kumar Singh and games teacher Gopal Kumar
A total of 206 participants are competing in this year’s event.
