Jamshedpur: A team of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) led by the special officer Sanjay Kumar conducted a surprise inspection of the areas situated on the banks of Swarnarekha at Baridih here on Friday and stopped several persons from open defecation. Those caught were released after warning.
They were asked to use toilets and give up the habit of defecating in the open. For those who had no toilet at home, Kumar asked the City Manager of MNAC and asked him to conduct a fresh survey of households in the city and prepare a list of households not having toilet facility. He said those not having access to toilet would be helped by the district administration.
Kumar later visited several localities in Baradwari, Baridih and Golmuri and took stock of the cleanliness situation. MNAC cleaning staff removed garbage heaped on the main road in Nirala Path, Meera Path and other areas. Bleaching powder was also sprinkled at these places. Local residents were asked not to throw garbage openly here and there.
Noticing plastic cups being used at tea stalls at several places including Baradwari, Baridih Chowk and near Mercy Hospital, Kumar asked the vendors not to use plastic cups for serving tea to their customers. He said only earthen pots or paper cups should be used. He also directed them to make sure that the disposable cups are kept in the dustbin.
