Jamshedpur: A Swachhata Sabha (meeting) was organized in Bagunhatu on the banks of Swarnarekha on Saturday under the aegis of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC). Special Officer of JNAC Sanjay Kumar was also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Kumar said the community toilet was constructed in Bagunhatu sometime ago with the view to make sure that the local residents use it on a regular basis. On checking the register maintained by the toilet manager, it was found out that the toilet is not being used, he said.
Kumar said in view of the low turnout of people it had been decided that only Rs 2 will be charged per person in case of women and children for using the toilet instead of Rs 5 as fixed earlier. No fee will be taken from disabled persons, he said.
Kumar said the fee so collected would be used to maintain the toilet. He said monthly or annual tokens would also be issued to the people to ensure that they do not have to pay on a daily basis.
The residents were also administered a mass oath of cleanliness on the occasion.
