Jamshedpur, March 6 : A meeting of the Municipal Technical Road Committee was held on Friday at the office of the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) under the chairmanship of the Deputy Municipal Commissioner to review measures for strengthening traffic management and improving parking facilities in the city.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on creating and expanding parking infrastructure in key areas of the city. Officials were directed to identify available spaces in major market zones to develop new parking facilities. Instructions were also issued to enhance and streamline the management of existing parking spaces. Current parking contractors were directed to ensure that parking attendants strictly follow the prescribed dress code.
The committee also deliberated on the possibility of developing new parking zones in the busy Sakchi and Bistupur market areas to ease vehicular pressure and maintain smooth traffic flow.
To address traffic congestion, officials were instructed to clearly demarcate no-parking zones along major roads and in crowded areas so that unnecessary roadside parking does not disrupt vehicular movement.
The meeting also emphasized the need to organize roadside vending by developing new vending zones, ensuring that footpaths and roads remain accessible and traffic movement is not affected.
The Deputy Municipal Commissioner directed the concerned departments to conduct an assessment of the city’s existing parking capacity in comparison with the number of registered vehicles in Jamshedpur.
The study will help authorities plan adequate parking infrastructure to meet future demands.
Appealing to residents and business owners, the Deputy Municipal Commissioner urged them to keep public spaces in front of their establishments free from encroachment, warning that enforcement teams may take action against violations.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the traffic police, Tata Steel, the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry, officials from the fire department, the Special Officer, Accounts Officer, City Manager and other concerned officials.
