Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee is mulling over plans to allow traders and social organizations to adopt community toilets. The traders or organizations who adopt a toilet will in turn get a right to use the walls of the toilet building for advertisement purpose and put up hoardings on the toilet building. This was informed here on Monday by the special officer of JNAC Sanjay Kumar.

Kumar said anyone interested in enjoying the benefits of the scheme may agree to bear a monthly expense of Rs 10,000 in running the community toilet adopted by them. He said the JNAC would construct more such community toilets in areas where there is no such facility. Each toilet would have 10 or 20 latrine units and would be situated in slum areas.

Those who want to become a partner in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan may come forward and adopt community toilets. Any trader or organization may adopt the toilets and become entitled to the scheme benefits, said Kumar.

The JNAC officer said talks were on with various social organizations of the city including Lions Club, Marwari Yuva Manch, CA Association and Rotary Club. He said talks had also been held with several social workers and academic institutions.
