Jamshedpur : JMM East Singhbhum district president Ramesh Hansda resigned on Friday in protest against the party’s decision to deny a ticket from Potka assembly constituency.
Hansda sent his resignation to party supremo Shibu Soren. He expressed concern that though he dedicated his life for JMM but the outsiders are being given preferences.
I have been working for the JMM for the past 15 years but the party overlooked my candidature. Party has fielded Kamaljeet Kaur (Jamshedpur East), Upender Singh (Jamshedpur West) and Mangal Kalindi (Jugsalai) who have never worked for the JMM,” Hansda said.
He added Mangal Kalindi is the same person who campaigned against JMM chief in the Tamar by- elections in 2008. Kalindi fully backed Jharkhand Party nominee Gopal Krishna Patar alias Raja Peter.
On his next step, Hansda said he was yet to decide on which party to join. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has suffered several blows with debacle in Jamshedpur parliamentary election as a host of its leaders and office bearers are quitting from the party.
Former MLA Sukhram Oraon resigned from the party along with his wife Navmi Oraon who was the president of West Singhbhum district unit of JMM Mahila Morcha.
Oraon, who represented Chakradharpur seat in last assembly on JMM ticket, was also the district president of the party. The couple was angry with the top leadership of JMM for quite some time due to their alleged negligence, the sources said. Among others, who have bid adieu to the party includes the former district committee president, Rodia Soren, General secretary Sunil Kumar Mahto, Vice-president Babbar Khan, Central committee secretary Aastik Mahto and others have tendered their resignation recently.
“JMM is being ruled by sycophant. I have been ignored by the party. I am not raising finger on any individual but my experience so far says that money power is ruling the roost in the organisation,” said a leader.
The former Jharkhand unit president of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (Women cell) and former MP, Suman Mahto also left party when she was denied party ticket during Jamshedpur by-poll. Shibu Soren had named Sudhir Mahto, a former MLA from Ichagarh constituency in Saraikela-Kharswan district, as party candidate for the Jamshedpur byelection that led to the rift.
