Jamshedpur: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Thursday formally announced its dedicated candidates for key mayoral posts in the upcoming municipal body elections, setting the tone for an intense political contest across urban local bodies in the region. The announcement was made during a press conference held at the party’s district office in Jamshedpur.
Addressing mediapersons, JMM central committee member Pramod Lal said the names were finalized after detailed deliberations at the party’s central level. He stated that the selections were made in accordance with the directives of the JMM central leadership, keeping in mind the candidates’ commitment to public service, grassroots connect, and their contribution to strengthening the party organization.

“The party has given dedicated and capable faces to the people for the upcoming municipal elections. These candidates have been chosen after careful consideration and consultation with senior leaders and local workers,” Pramod Lal said.

As per the announcement, Lucky Singh has been declared the JMM’s dedicated candidate for the post of Mayor of Mango Municipal Corporation. Dolly Mallick has been named as the party’s candidate for Jugsalai Municipal Council, while Sombari Soren will contest from Chakulia Nagar Panchayat.

Pramod Lal emphasized that JMM is determined to play a decisive role in urban governance and aims to ensure transparent, accountable, and development-oriented administration in municipal bodies. He said that the party’s focus will be on improving civic infrastructure, sanitation, drinking water supply, road connectivity, and effective implementation of welfare schemes at the urban level.

He further stated that the municipal elections are not merely political contests but an opportunity to strengthen grassroots democracy. “Urban local bodies are the backbone of city administration. Through these elections, we aim to ensure that people’s voices are heard and their issues addressed efficiently,” he added.

Speaking about the candidates, party leaders present at the press conference highlighted their experience and public outreach. Lucky Singh was described as an active social worker with a strong base in Mango, while Dolly Mallick has been associated with community initiatives in Jugsalai. Sombari Soren, party leaders said, has been actively involved in public issues in Chakulia and has maintained close ties with local residents.
Political observers believe that the early declaration of candidates reflects JMM’s strategy to consolidate its urban support base and begin groundwork well in advance of the elections. The party appears keen to project stability, organizational strength, and clarity in leadership as it enters the municipal poll arena.
