Stray Animals to Be Removed from Jamshedpur Roads Ahead of President’s Visit

19-Member Team Formed

Jamshedpur: With President Droupadi Murmu scheduled to visit the city on February 26, the district administration has intensified preparations to ensure smooth security and traffic management. A special drive will be launched from February 13 to control stray animals roaming on roads and public places across the city.

A 19-member team has been constituted under the chairmanship of District Animal Husbandry Officer Dr. Samarjeet Mandal to carry out the drive effectively.

The team comprises officials and staff from the Animal Husbandry Department along with representatives from JUSCO, Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC), Tatanagar Gaushala and Tata Zoological Park. Responsibilities have been clearly defined to ensure coordination among all concerned departments for the successful execution of the drive.

JNAC Deputy Administrator Krishna Kumar said special monitoring will be conducted on major roads, intersections and areas surrounding event venues during the President’s visit. Under the campaign, stray animals will be identified, safely captured and relocated to designated shelters, ensuring that no harm comes to them.

The administration has also appealed to residents for cooperation. Citizens have been urged not to leave their domestic animals unattended on roads and to inform the concerned department if stray animals are spotted.

Officials stated that the primary objective is to ensure smooth traffic flow, cleanliness and tight security arrangements during the President’s visit. The Deputy Administrator added that the drive would not only help maintain order during the high-profile visit but also serve as a positive step toward addressing the long-standing issue of stray animals in the city.
