Jharkhand athletes win seven medals for India in Chennai
Chennai, Nov 9: Jharkhand athletes made the state proud by winning seven medals for India on the third and fourth days of the 23rd Asian Masters Athletics Championship held in Chennai from November 5 to 9.


S.K. Tomar bagged a gold medal in hammer throw with a throw of 47.31m and a silver in discus throw in the 50 years category. Ashok Kumar clinched a bronze in the 200m race and a silver in the 300m hurdles in the 70+ category. Praveen Mishra won a silver in hammer throw in the 45+ age group, while B.N. Rao secured a gold medal in long jump in the 85+ group. M.L. Chatterjee added a bronze in the 75+ category.
According to Gursharan Singh, media in-charge from Jharkhand, more than 3,300 athletes from 21 countries are competing in the prestigious championship.
