Jamshedpur. In view of the Ghatshila Assembly by-election – 2025, a meeting of the District Monitoring Committee (DMCAE) was held at the Collectorate Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Election Officer (DEO) Karn Satyarthi. The meeting focused on ensuring smooth and accessible participation of voters with disabilities in the upcoming polling process.
During the meeting, the DEO emphasized the need for special awareness programs for voters with disabilities, preparation of accessible polling stations, and proper support arrangements on polling day, including the timely appointment and training of volunteers.
In line with the Election Commission’s directives, the District Election Officer instructed all departments and institutions concerned to ensure the availability of ramps, wheelchairs, toilets, Braille-enabled facilities, help desks, and transportation for persons with disabilities at every polling station. He reiterated that ensuring equal voting opportunities and dignified access for all voters is the top priority of the district administration. He also urged all departments to work in close coordination to remove any shortcomings so that no voter faces inconvenience during voting.
The DEO informed that necessary facilities for voters with disabilities have been restored at all polling stations and a review is underway to identify and address any remaining gaps. He directed officials to complete all pending arrangements well in time before polling day as per the Election Commission’s guidelines.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Development Commissioner, Deputy Election Officer, District Welfare Officer, District Public Relations Officer, District Education Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, Engineer of Building Division, representatives of organizations working for persons with disabilities, and other concerned officials.
