Jamshedpur: Voters in Ghatshila Assembly constituency will cast their votes at 300 polling stations in the upcoming by-election, following the addition of nine new stations. At present, the constituency has 2,51,367 electors, a number expected to grow after the summary revision of the voter list.
The District Election Officer, Karn Satyarthi informed that nine new polling stations have been created after rationalization of polling stations. Instead of the previously notified 291 polling stations, now voters will be able to vote at a total of 300 polling stations, housed in 218 polling buildings. At present, the Ghatshila Assembly constituency has 2,51,367 registered voters, and the number is likely to increase after the ongoing special summary revision program of the voter list.
Addressing a press conference at the Collectorate Auditorium, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi shared detailed information about the revision process. He informed that the draft publication of the integrated electoral roll has already been completed at all polling stations on September 2, 2025, and the final publication of the voter list is scheduled for September 29, 2025. The period for filing claims and objections will remain open from September 2 to September 17, with disposal of these cases by September 25, 2025.
As per Rule 16 of the Electoral Registration Rules, 1960, the Electoral Registration Officer will prepare lists of claims and objections in Forms 9, 10, 11, 11A, and 11B. A copy of these lists will be displayed on the office notice board, while weekly updates will also be shared with all recognized national and state political parties.
The Deputy Commissioner added that citizens eligible as of the qualifying date, July 1, 2025, may apply for inclusion of their names using Form-6. For correction of entries, applications can be submitted through Form-8, while requests for transfer or deletion can be filed in Form-7.
To facilitate greater participation, applications can also be made online through the Election Commission’s portal (https://voters.eci.gov.in) or the Voter Helpline App. Additionally, citizens may submit their applications at the offices of the respective BLOs, EROs, and AEROs.
The District Election Officer appealed to all eligible residents of the constituency to ensure their names are correctly recorded in the electoral list, emphasizing that a complete and accurate voter roll is vital for strengthening the democratic process in the region.
