Jharkhand to Launch SIR Drive on June 30; Draft Electoral Rolls on Aug 5

Ranchi: Jharkhand will launch its Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive for electoral rolls on Tuesday, June 30. During the month-long campaign, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door visits across the state to distribute enumeration forms and verify voter details.

Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar announced on Sunday that the drive aims to ensure a flawless voter list by registering every eligible citizen and purging any ineligible entries. The verification campaign will run through July 29.

Pre-Filled Forms and Simple Verification Process

To streamline the process, the Election Department will provide voters with partially pre-filled forms in duplicate. Voters must fill out and return one copy to the visiting BLO while retaining the second copy as an official acknowledgment receipt.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) clarified that voters with pre-mapped details do not need to submit additional identity or address documents.

Key Exceptions & Deadlines:

• Data Mismatch: The department will only issue a notice requesting supporting documents if a voter’s current record conflicts with existing data.
• Draft Publication: Voters who submit their verified forms on time will see their names included in the draft electoral roll, scheduled for publication on August 5.
• Unmapped Voters: The department urged residents who have not yet completed their data mapping to provide accurate details to visiting BLOs to ensure inclusion in the final roll.

Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar cautioned citizens against falling prey to misinformation or misleading social media rumors regarding the voter revision process. He emphasized that the department has uploaded official instructional videos and comprehensive guidelines across its verified social media platforms to help guide the public through the verification steps.
