Jharkhand: Tight Contest between BJP and JMM for Singhbhum parliamentary seat

Chaibasa, May 5: With the Singhbhum parliamentary seat up for grabs, a close battle is unfolding between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in various assembly constituencies.

In Seraikela and Chakardharpur assembly areas, BJP appears to have a strong foothold, while JMM’s influence is evident in Jagannathpur, where Joba Majhi gains with Minister Deepak Birua’s support. Deepak Birua’s influence extends to Chaibasa Assembly, where his backing is bolstering Majhi’s campaign.

However, MLA NiralPurti is fiercely opposing BJP’s advancement in his assembly constituency, which he directly contests against former Chief Minister Madhu Koda. Koda, in turn, focuses on Mazgaon Assembly in his electoral agenda.

In Jagannathpur Assembly, BJP candidates face hurdles due to strategic moves by JMM District Council President Lakshmi Soren, former MLA Mangal Singh Bobonga, and current MLA Sona Ram Sinku. Meanwhile, efforts are underway in Manoharpur assembly to secure the traditional tribal, Christian, and Muslim votes.

With a week remaining until voting day, the public sentiment remains fluid, with the final days before the elections poised to sway opinions. While BJP displays strength in Chakradharpur and Seraikela assemblies, a tight contest ensues in Jagannathpur and Manoharpur between BJP’s Geeta Koda and JMM’s Joba Majhi.

In the Singhbhum Lok Sabha constituency, BJP holds sway in Gamharia and Adityapur of Seraikela assembly, where Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren is the sitting MLA, putting his reputation at stake. Attention also lingers on the 12 other candidates vying for the parliamentary seat, though their impact on the outcome remains uncertain.
