Jharkhand State Food Commission chairperson meets panchayat heads in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Sept 14: Jharkhand State Food Commission chairperson Himanshu Shekhar Choudhary and member Shabnam Parveen interacted with all the Panchayat heads of the district at the Town Hall in Sidgora.

During this, Special Subdivision Officer Deepu Kumar, district Panchayati Raj Officer Rajnikant Mishra shared information regarding departmental schemes. An appeal was made to the heads at the Panchayat level to take initiative in bringing the schemes on ground in the area and providing the benefits of government welfare schemes to the people standing at the last rung.

While interacting with the heads, the chairperson of the Commission said that the government’s intention behind implementing the Food Security Act scheme is clear that no one should remain hungry due to lack of food grains, no woman or child should become a victim of malnutrition. He said that crores of needy people are being benefited under the Act and the Commission is continuously working to ensure that more and more people continue to benefit from the Act and the result is that the Commission is conducting dialogue programs with the Chiefs in all the districts of the state.

The chairperson of the State Food Commission said that where officials may take time to reach out to the people. The state government implements the schemes/programmes and it is the responsibility of the officers and employees to ensure its compliance and its reach to the beneficiaries, but it is up panchayat members to monitor it.

He also asked officials and panchayat representatives to go to the schools and see whether the children are getting food as per the MDM menu or not. If any malnourished child or woman comes to your notice in your Panchayat area, take initiative to get admitted to the malnutrition treatment center.

PDS dealers should monitor the distribution of ration in appropriate quantity and motivate parents to send their children to school regularly. In case of complaint please convey to the District Grievance Redressal Officer.

Chairperson said that they would honor three district heads who have done better work and at the state level, the Commission will also give wide publicity as to why they were honored so that more people can also take inspiration.
