Jharkhand State Election Commission Issues Directive for Municipal Elections Preparation

Ranchi: In response to the High Court’s order regarding the conduct of municipal elections, the Jharkhand State Election Commission has sent a letter to all Deputy Commissioners cum District Election Officers. The letter outlines preparations and measures to be taken for the smooth conduct of municipal elections in 48 municipal bodies across the state.

The Commission emphasized the need for the formation of various election-related cells in districts and the compilation of relevant lists to facilitate the electoral process. While the Commission has already provided voting materials to all districts, it highlighted the responsibility of District Election Officers in making arrangements for other necessary materials.

To ensure a comprehensive assessment of the requirements for voting materials and associated expenses, the Deputy Commissioners are instructed to estimate the expenditure and communicate it to the Urban Development Department.
The State Election Commission clarified that the instructions previously issued for the Municipal Elections 2022-23 remain relevant and applicable to the upcoming Municipal Elections.
