Jharkhand shivers as Kanke plunges to 3.2°C

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur, Dec 11 : Winter tightened its hold over Jharkhand on Thursday as Kanke in the outskirts of capital Ranchi shivered at a bone-chilling 3.2°C, the lowest minimum temperature reported in the state during the past 24 hours.

This was the lowest minimum temperature of the season recorded in Jharkhand.

The steep decline has led to cold wave conditions in isolated parts of Central Jharkhand, signalling a deepening winter phase.

Meteorologists report that no major synoptic weather system is influencing Jharkhand at present. Instead, a steady flow of north-westerly winds in the lower tropospheric levels is driving temperatures down and keeping the atmosphere crisp, dry, and stable across the region.

Even as nights turned sharply colder, daytime conditions remained comfortable.

Chaibasa in neighbouring West Singhbhum logged the highest maximum temperature at 29.4°C, highlighting the stark contrast between day and night temperatures.

With dry weather expected to continue, residents across Ranchi and central districts should prepare for increasingly cold mornings as Jharkhand settles deeper into the winter season.

According to weatherman, most parts of Jharkhand would witness dry and crisp weather with dominating north- westerly wind which would intensify the chill further.
