Jharkhand raises UPSC support for SC/ST aspirants to Rs 1.5 lakh

Ranchi, July 6: In a significant boost for civil services aspirants from the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities, the Jharkhand government has enhanced financial assistance under the Mukhyamantri Anusuchit Janjati–Anusuchit Jati Civil Services Incentive Scheme.
Eligible candidates who have cleared the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026 will now receive a one-time assistance of Rs 1.50 lakh to prepare for the Main Examination and Personality Test, up from the earlier Rs 1 lakh.
The Department has also substantially relaxed the eligibility criteria by raising the annual family income ceiling from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh, enabling a larger pool of deserving candidates to benefit from the scheme.
Applications have been invited from permanent residents of Jharkhand belonging to the SC and ST categories who have qualified the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026. The benefit can be availed only once and is not available to candidates already receiving assistance under any other Central or State government civil services coaching scheme.
Applicants must submit online-issued residential, caste and income certificates, educational qualification certificates, the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026 admit card, and proof of qualifying the examination.
The department has clarified that only digitally issued certificates will be accepted.
The application process is currently underway, and eligible candidates can apply until 6 pm on July 31.
Filled-in application forms can be submitted in person at the Office of the Tribal Welfare Commissioner in Ranchi or sent through Speed Post or registered post.
The government has urged all eligible candidates to complete the application process well before the deadline.
