Jamshedpur, July 6: Jamshedpur Police on Monday secured the transit remand of DD Bar owner and BJP leader Neeraj Singh from a court in Sikar, Rajasthan, in connection with the fatal shooting outside DD Bar in Bistupur that claimed one life and left another person critically injured.
Following the court’s approval, the police team left Rajasthan with Singh and is travelling to Jamshedpur via Delhi.
He is expected to be brought to the city by late Monday night for further interrogation and legal proceedings.
Singh was detained by the Rajasthan Police from the Khatu Shyam Temple area in Sikar district after Jamshedpur Police allegedly tracked his location through mobile phone surveillance and shared the inputs with their Rajasthan counterparts.
He was initially detained at the local police station, where investigators questioned him before producing him before the Sikar court.
After obtaining the transit remand, the Jamshedpur Police team began the process of bringing the accused back to Jharkhand. Investigators believe his custodial interrogation could provide crucial leads into the conspiracy behind the sensational attack outside the Bistupur bar.
Meanwhile, Singh’s wife, Sandhya Singh, who had previously contested the Mango Municipal Corporation mayoral election, reached Sikar along with family members after learning about his arrest. She termed the police action “unjustified” and alleged that her husband Neeraj Singh and her family were being unnecessarily harassed.
