Ranchi/ Jamshedpur, Oct 15: Jharkhand police have reported major gains in their 2025 anti-Maoist operations, marking a decisive push against Left-Wing Extremism across the state.

Led by DGP Anurag Gupta and IG (Operations) Dr. Michaelraj S, the police between January and September killed 32 Maoists, arrested 266, and facilitated the surrender of 30 cadres.

Key Operations and Recoveries

Security forces seized 157 weapons, including 58 looted from police, along with 11,950 bullets, 18,884 detonators, and nearly 395 kg of explosives. Authorities also recovered ₹39.53 lakh in levy money, destroyed 37 bunkers, and neutralised 228 IEDs in Maoist strongholds like Latehar, Chatra, Gumla, and Simdega.

Among those arrested were top commanders such as Akram Ganjhu, Ranvijay Mahato, and Kundan Kherwar, each carrying bounties of ₹10–15 lakh. Encounters also claimed the lives of senior Maoist leaders Vivek alias Prayag Manjhi and Anuj alias Sahdev Soren, both with ₹1 crore rewards on their heads.

Growing Surrenders and Decline in Maoist Activity

Thirty Maoists, including zonal and sub-zonal commanders, surrendered under the state’s rehabilitation policy amid sustained police pressure. Officials said the coordinated drives have “weakened Maoist networks and disrupted their supply chain.”

Cyber and Crime Control Push

Parallelly, Jharkhand Police intensified action against cybercrime, registering 128 cases and arresting 105 accused.

Assets worth ₹7.42 crore were frozen, and ₹37.28 lakh refunded to victims via the Dial-1930 helpline.

With continuous operations and better intelligence coordination, police said Maoist influence in Jharkhand is steadily shrinking, signaling a major turnaround in the state’s long fight against extremism.
