Jharkhand personnel to receive Gallantry, Service Medals

Ranchi: As part of the 78th Independence Day celebrations, 19 employees and officials from Jharkhand will be honored for their exemplary service and bravery in a special ceremony in Delhi. Among them, Garhwa Superintendent of Police (SP) Deepak Kumar Pandey will be awarded the prestigious gallantry medal for his courageous actions in eliminating the rewarded Naxalite Chandrabhan Pahan and capturing the zonal commander Govind Brijia while serving as the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Lohardaga district. Deepak Kumar Pandey, an IPS officer of the 2019 batch, is one of seven individuals from Jharkhand to receive this honor.

The other recipients of the gallantry medal include Sub Inspector Vishwajeet Kumar Singh, Havildar Umesh Singh, Constable Subhash Das, Constable Gopal Ganjhu, Constable Ravindra Toppo, and Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Sachchidanand Singh. These brave men have demonstrated outstanding valor in the line of duty, earning them recognition on this significant occasion.

In addition to the gallantry medals, 11 police personnel from Jharkhand will receive the commendable service medal. The recipients include Head Constable Salomi Minj, Constable Vimal Kumar Chhetri, Constable Randhir Kumar Singh, Constable Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, Constable Hema Rani Kullu, Head Constable Sanjay Oraon, Head Constable Arun Oraon, Constable Rekha Kumari, Head Constable Rituraj, Head Constable Rajendra Ram, and Head Constable Sanjay Kumar. Their consistent dedication and commitment to duty have earned them this well-deserved recognition.

This year also marks a historic moment as Pyare Lal Timbwar, a fireman driver, becomes the first fire service personnel from Jharkhand to be honored with a bravery medal. Timbwar, who was appointed in 1990, played a crucial role in controlling a major fire at a road construction site in Sahibganj last year. Despite sustaining serious injuries, he successfully prevented the fire from causing further damage and endangering the lives of local residents. His exceptional bravery will be recognized alongside 46 other fire department employees from across the country.
